Casting Operator Level 3 reporting to the Casthouse Manager at Signature Aluminum Canada Ltd. in Pickering, Ontario.
Permanent, full-time vacant position.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with furnace and mold preparation, metal handling, and casting under close supervision.
- Support experienced operators during melting, alloying, and pouring.
- Perform temperature checks and sample preparation.
- Follow safety procedures for molten materials and heavy equipment.
- Maintain the mold room, casting area, and surrounding workspaces.
- Use hand tools, carts, and PPE as trained.
- Participate in training rotations and safety or shift meetings; communicate with teammates.
Required qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, foundry, casting, or heavy industrial experience and a strong understanding of workplace safety.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and production requirements.
- Basic computer and documentation skills; mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform simple addition.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience operating casting, furnace, or molten metal processing equipment.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or mobile equipment experience.
- Knowledge of aluminum casting processes and quality standards.
- Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Physical and workplace conditions
- Work is in person in a hot, noisy, physically demanding industrial environment.
- Requires lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs.), standing and walking for extended periods, and bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including heat-resistant clothing and respiratory protection where required.
Schedule
- 12-hour continental shift rotation.
Pay and benefits
- Pay is $27.00 per hour.
- Benefits include dental and healthcare coverage, a drug plan, an employee assistance program, and a pension plan with company matching up to 3.25%.
