About Selecta

Selecta provides unattended self-serve coffee and convenience food, vending solutions, and specialist coffee services across Europe.

In the UK, Selecta serves businesses and locations including workplaces, schools, universities, hospitals, and transport hubs.

Purpose of the role

Provide dedicated analytical support to the Commercial & Operational Excellence Lead.

Use machine-level, product-level, transactional, and operational data to identify performance improvements and turn opportunities into practical actions.

The role is not reporting-only; it requires proactive investigation and independent use of SQL.

Performance and optimization work

Analyze machine productivity, sales per machine, vends, average selling price, and availability to improve sales, gross margin, and profitability.
Compare machines, locations, and customer segments, investigate performance drivers, and identify ways to improve underperforming locations.
Analyze product sales, rate of sale, price, cost, and gross margin by SKU, machine, site, and category.
Use sales history, capacity, facings, demand, service frequency, and target fill to recommend ranges, facings, and fill levels.
Identify slow-moving products or capacity that could generate more revenue or gross profit; evaluate planogram changes and refine recommendations using results.
Analyze price, volume, cost, and margin; identify pricing opportunities and develop price-elasticity hypotheses.
Design and analyze controlled pricing trials against appropriate control groups; recommend actions based on total financial opportunity.
Find gross margin opportunities in product mix, range, pricing, and sourcing; investigate wastage, stock loss, and shrinkage root causes.
Work with Procurement, Category, and Supply Chain on product substitutions, accounting for consumer and volume impact.

Operations and trials

Analyze the relationship between sales, machine capacity, stock levels, product availability, and service frequency.
Analyze revenue and vends per visit and assess whether visit frequency can be reduced without affecting sales, availability, or customer experience.
Work with Operations and Planning to identify, quantify, and help implement productivity opportunities across branches, routes, and teams.
Support controlled trials and pilots for pricing, planograms, range, visit frequency, and operational changes, establishing baselines, success measures, and suitable control groups or benchmarks.
Account for seasonality, trends, and site differences when evaluating performance.

Candidate profile

Be curious and commercially minded, comfortable investigating why performance varies across machines, products, locations, customers, and operating models.
Use SQL confidently to access and shape data rather than relying on BI for every question.
Translate analytical findings into practical, implementable improvement actions.
