Position summary

The Business Analyst supports client projects and advisory engagements through business discovery, process and operating-model analysis, requirements definition, prerequisite identification, and decision support.

The role connects stakeholder needs, operating requirements, governance considerations, and technical prerequisites to clear planning inputs and delivery outcomes.

Works with account executives, solutions engineers, architects, consultants, project managers, and IT managers; reports to the Director, Client Solutions.

Full-time salaried position, 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; occasional after-hours availability may be required.

Discovery and requirements

  • Lead focused discovery and planning workshops; understand client context, processes, constraints, stakeholder needs, decision points, and measures of success.
  • Gather and clarify requirements, outcomes, constraints, and decisions; turn findings and current-state issues into planning direction for technical and delivery teams.
  • Connect process decisions to business outcomes; separate confirmed requirements from preferences, assumptions, open questions, and unresolved decisions.
  • Document decisions, ownership, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and follow-up; maintain alignment between requirements and implementation as scope or priorities change.

Process and operating-model analysis

  • Map current- and future-state processes where process change, workflow improvement, automation, or operational handoff is part of an engagement.
  • Identify business, operational, governance, data, security, resilience, and support requirements affecting direction, delivery readiness, or long-term usability.
  • Help define access control, information classification, recovery expectations, approval flows, and privileged-access operations when needed.
  • Clarify people, processes, controls, ownership, and support expectations; identify operating-model gaps, blockers, risks, and unresolved decisions.

Planning and delivery support

  • Turn business requirements into planning inputs for architecture, design, and implementation; define prerequisites, dependencies, constraints, ownership, and decision points.
  • Maintain engagement context across advisory, sales, technical, project, and managed-services teams and prepare handoffs covering requirements, risks, decisions, and dependencies.
  • Support projects involving AI, SharePoint, Power Platform, automation, business intelligence, security, cloud, infrastructure, and resilience.
  • Stay engaged during delivery as needed to clarify intent and help determine whether proposed changes meet business requirements.

Communication and improvement

  • Facilitate structured, outcome-focused conversations; ask questions that distinguish requests from requirements, constraints, risks, impacts, and decisions.
  • Communicate with clients and internal teams in writing, workshops, meetings, and delivery discussions; summarize input and follow-up clearly.
  • Create and maintain usable requirements, process, decision, dependency, acceptance-criteria, and handoff documentation.
  • Identify recurring patterns, contribute templates and checklists, and use delivery feedback to improve requirements capture and handoffs.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, process analysis, project delivery, technology consulting, operations, or a related role.
  • Experience facilitating discovery, clarifying requirements, and documenting decisions with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of process mapping, current- and future-state analysis, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and project handoffs.
  • Comfortable supporting projects in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, automation, business intelligence, security, cloud, infrastructure, resilience, or similar environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analysis, problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail; able to work across technical and business audiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and common collaboration, documentation, diagramming, project, and requirements-management tools.
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada; valid driver’s license and vehicle; able to travel occasionally for business; fluent spoken and written English.

Professional approach

  • Builds trust through preparation, follow-through, clear documentation, and practical communication.
  • Uses structured questions and sound judgment to organize incomplete information, identify risks and trade-offs, and turn ambiguity into actionable next steps.
  • Works across business, technical, project, advisory, and managed-services conversations and maintains a calm, constructive approach in sensitive situations.

Work arrangement

  • Typical business hours are 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday; occasional after-hours availability may be required.
  • Occasional business travel is required. The description does not specify a standard office or remote-work arrangement.

Compensation

  • Full-time salaried position with compensation of CAD 120,000–155,000, commensurate with skills, experience, and duties.
