Business Analysis Manager

Role overview

Team and delivery leadership

• Lead, guide and support the Business Analysis team, setting direction and planning and prioritising activities.
• Coach and develop team members and ensure work is delivered on schedule to a professional standard.
• Manage competing stakeholder demands and coordinate planning with Business Analysis colleagues across IT.
• Champion and embed agile ways of working across the team.

Business change analysis

• Work with Product, Platform, IT and business stakeholders to investigate and shape change initiatives, analysis approaches and resource plans.
• Ensure initiative vision, drivers, objectives and benefits are understood, documented, managed and traced.
• Investigate business problems and opportunities and specify changes to processes, people skills, information, technology and organisational structures.
• Use Customer Experience and Journey Mapping techniques where appropriate.
• Conduct strategic investigations, take a holistic view of business situations and assess solution feasibility.
• Advise senior stakeholders on change priorities and the feasibility and relevance of business and technical change options.

Solutions and evaluation

• Specify and model holistic solutions using appropriate standards, methods and techniques.
• Engage senior stakeholders to review models, communicate results and resolve issues or disagreements.
• Model, simulate or prototype system components to support stakeholder approval.
• Assess major design options and trade-offs, make recommendations and manage associated risks.
• Plan and perform user experience evaluations to verify usability and accessibility requirements.

Reporting

• Provide commercially insightful reporting and analysis for stakeholders, improving visibility of progress and issues.

Experience and knowledge

• Experience leading and managing Business Analysis teams and planning team workload amid competing demands.
• Extensive knowledge of systems, development methods, techniques and standards; enterprise experience and understanding of application architecture and hardware infrastructure.
• Skill in Business Analysis techniques and Information Modelling tools.
• Understand approaches including Agile, XP, TDD, Scrum and Waterfall and how to apply them.
• Familiarity with Lean Agile and DevOps; knowledge of application development tools, Big Data, Data Analytics and AI.
• Knowledge of planning and control methods for monitoring change initiative or project progress.
