Budget Analyst 2

Nature of work

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and reviewing expenditure schedules, appropriation requests, budget narratives, and executive reports for the Departments of Health, Health Facilities, Human Resources, and the Office of Shared Administration.
• Monitor daily fund and budget allocations across agency programs.
• Advise spending-unit fiscal personnel.

Skills and knowledge

• Advanced spreadsheet management, financial modeling, and accounting principles.
• Knowledge of state-level fiscal policies, procedures, and funding operations.
• Ability to interpret and apply the West Virginia Code and Budget Bill.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, statistics, economics, finance, public policy analysis, or a related area.
• Additional experience may substitute for education at a rate of one year for every 30 semester hours of required training.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in budget preparation, financial allocation, or financial analysis.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in nongovernmental budget preparation, monitoring, or review may substitute for the required experience.

Salary

• Salary range is USD 41,194–71,789 yearly.
