About The Role
- Are you an experienced disputes lawyer ready to move beyond traditional practice into a role where you can shape the future of legal knowledge?
- We are seeking a dynamic professional to join our Dispute Resolution team in a position that offers genuine influence over how legal expertise is developed, shared and applied across our practice.
- This opportunity will allow you to leverage your technical expertise alongside a genuine enthusiasm for knowledge sharing, AI, innovation and professional development. You will play a key role in driving best practice, harnessing legal technologies and empowering colleagues to deliver excellence in client work.
- In this role, you will develop sophisticated knowhow resources and drive the knowledge strategy for the practice. You will serve as the knowledge liaison across the Firm's regional Dispute Resolution departments, fostering a culture of continuous learning and ensuring expertise is effectively captured and shared. This is an opportunity to help maintain our position at the forefront of knowledge management in the MENA region.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Dispute Resolution team on the development of precedents, judgment summaries, templates, practice notes and legal opinions.
- Lead knowledge initiatives, including know-how meetings, precedent development and internal systems.
- Keep the team updated on the latest legal developments, delivering training, updates and guidance, and horizon scanning to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Scope, write, review and edit high-quality content for the dispute resolution team, maintaining and developing your own expertise, keeping up to date with legal and market developments, and researching sources to identify matters relevant to clients and fee earners.
- Assist with prioritisation and allocation of know-how projects and implementation of the wider knowledge management departmental strategy.
- Liaise with the Academy team to develop and coordinate a comprehensive legal training programme for lawyers, paralegals, legal executives, trainees and apprentices, identifying knowledge gaps and personally delivering or procuring training as required.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team by encouraging the collation and dissemination of technical know-how using knowledge management tools.
- Supervise the use of online platforms and contribute expertise to delivering innovative digital and automated solutions for the dispute resolution practice, particularly in relation to precedents and templates.
- Champion new technologies, encouraging adoption of AI-driven tools and improved working practices across the team.
- Manage and contribute to the departmental section of the firm’s intranet, information databases and knowledge management systems as required.
- Liaise with the Business Development and Marketing teams and contribute to the production of articles, briefings, newsletters and other materials for circulation to clients or publication in Law Update and other selected journals.
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Qualified lawyer registered with the appropriate regulatory authority. Strong technical legal disputes knowledge and a demonstrable aptitude for writing high-quality legal content in an engaging and accessible manner.
- Excellent drafting, research and presentation skills, with high levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
- Confidence with IT, knowledge systems and innovation, with genuine enthusiasm for exploring and mastering new legal technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to adopt cutting-edge technology platforms rapidly and champion their use throughout the practice.
- Collaborative, proactive and commercially aware approach, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and communicate with impact. Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Genuine interest in communicating legal developments to others, with experience of leading others to develop their skills and knowledge.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of eight years' relevant post-qualification experience in dispute resolution, gained at a reputable law firm. Direct practical experience of navigating court procedures and dispute resolution processes is required.
- Relevant practical experience providing legal advice on contentious matters. Ability to debate and advise on technical legal issues and suggest practical solutions.
- Experience working as a professional support lawyer or knowledge development lawyer is desirable but not essential. This role would suit applicants seeking their first knowledge lawyer position, as well as those with experience in similar roles.
Language Proficiency Requirements
- Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory. You must be able to communicate complex legal concepts, deliver training, draft high-quality legal content, and interact with clients and colleagues fluently in both languages.
Personal Attributes
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate intellectual curiosity, particularly regarding legal technology and innovation. The successful candidate will embrace an environment with access to sophisticated legal technology platforms, showing genuine enthusiasm for exploring new tools, championing digital transformation and continuously enhancing their technical capabilities.
- Your expertise and support will enable lawyers to provide a consistently high standard of legal work whilst staying on top of the latest developments in dispute resolution.
