BI Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop ingestion and transformation workflows that provide clean datasets for reporting and analysis.
• Build dimensional models, curated analytical layers, Power BI semantic models, reusable DAX measures, and consistent business definitions.
• Create performant dashboards and self-service reports for operational and commercial teams.
• Implement validation, tests, exception handling, and reconciliation controls; investigate discrepancies and resolve defects at source where possible.
• Improve query performance, refresh reliability, usability, access controls, and maintainability; support releases and incidents.
• Translate business requirements into KPIs and BI products, documenting assumptions and definitions.
• Collaborate on secure integrations, deployments, and shared analytical assets with data, DevOps, BI, and IT colleagues.
• Use AI coding tools for SQL, transformations, DAX, testing, and documentation, verifying their output.

Required qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production BI solutions, transformations, semantic models, and dashboards.
• Strong SQL, Power BI, DAX, dimensional modelling, and data preparation skills; solid analytics engineering understanding.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric or a similar platform, including pipelines, lakehouses or warehouses, semantic layers, and scheduled refreshes.
• Ability to validate data, troubleshoot discrepancies, optimize queries, and build maintainable reporting assets.
• Familiarity with Git, deployment practices, Azure integrations, and collaboration with platform and central IT teams.
• Advanced practical use of AI-native or agentic coding tools and discipline in testing generated code.
• Strong ownership, curiosity, and communication skills.
• Candidates must currently be based in Dubai.

Advantageous experience

• Real estate experience is an advantage.
• Independently built dashboards, data tools, and other technical projects are valued.
