Overview
We’re currently hiring a
Senior Backend Engineer
for a
3-month contract engagement
with a leading organization in Abu Dhabi.
This is a high-impact role focused on building scalable backend systems for a next-generation, data-driven platform.
Immediate joiners are strongly preferred.
Role Overview
You will take ownership of core backend services end-to-end — from architecture and design to production deployment.
The role involves building scalable APIs, working with distributed systems, and contributing to a platform that processes complex data and delivers real-time insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build robust backend services (auth, data pipelines, multi-tenancy, file handling)
- Develop and maintain scalable, secure RESTful APIs
- Work with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing systems
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (frontend, DevOps, data/AI)
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability
- Implement best practices in testing, security, and observability
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments
- Strong experience with
Python (FastAPI/Django)
and/or
Node.js (NestJS/Express)
- Solid understanding of
- microservices architecture
- and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with
- message brokers
- (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) and async processing
- Strong database experience (
PostgreSQL
- , Redis, or similar)
- Experience with
Docker, Kubernetes
- , and CI/CD pipelines
- Good understanding of API security (OAuth, JWT, RBAC)
- Nice to Have
- Exposure to AI/ML-integrated systems or data-intensive platforms
- Experience with Elasticsearch or similar search technologies
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or equivalent)
