Location and working arrangements

• The position may be based in Dubai, UAE (onsite) or the United Kingdom (remote).
• The role primarily follows local business hours, with occasional flexibility for maintenance, implementations, and service escalations across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, enhance, and own Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x microservices and REST APIs.
• Apply hexagonal and event-driven architecture, including Apache Kafka, to support service functionality.
• Work with PostgreSQL, Redis, and MinIO or other S3-compatible storage.
• Design multi-tenant services for deployment across public cloud and on-premises environments; containerize and deploy using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement secure integrations and build observable services with monitoring, structured logging, dashboards, and distributed tracing.
• Contribute to CI/CD, technical design, testing, troubleshooting, and production support, collaborating with distributed teams.

Must-have qualifications

• At least three years of professional Java development using Java 11 or later; Java 17 or 21 is preferred.
• Hands-on Spring Boot 3.x experience, including Web, Data JPA, and Security.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and PostgreSQL and/or Redis.
• Experience using Git; Bitbucket experience is preferred.
• Foundational Docker and Kubernetes experience and understanding of microservice architecture and modern backend design.
• Experience designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting production services.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed environment.

Additional helpful experience

• Gradle with Kotlin DSL, OIDC or comparable identity standards, telecommunications, or multi-tenant SaaS experience.
• Hexagonal, ports-and-adapters, or clean architecture; Helm charts; monitoring, dashboards, tracing, or structured logging.
• Cloud-agnostic deployment, S3-compatible storage, secrets-management tools, data-protection requirements, or high-throughput and low-latency systems.

Compensation

• UK salary range is £30,800–£54,100, depending on experience.
• Compensation for UAE-based employees will be discussed during recruitment and depends on experience.
