Back-End / Full-Stack Developer
Engagement type:
Independent contractor
Commitment
Full-time contract-based engagement
Contract fee:
$2 000 per month with potential to moving to full time employment for the right candidate after 6 months to $2 500 per month.
Equity Upside
For an exceptional long-term contributor who demonstrates strong ownership, technical leadership, and consistent delivery, equity may be considered separately, subject to company approval, vesting terms, and a written equity agreement.

The selected candidate will provide software development services under a contract/service agreement.
This is intended to be a long-term opportunity for the right person.
We are looking for a proactive developer who can design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient back-end systems.
The role involves developing server-side applications, designing APIs, working with databases, integrating with front-end systems, supporting deployment, and contributing to architecture decisions.
This role is best suited to someone who can work independently, communicate clearly, use AI-assisted development tools effectively, and push projects forward without waiting to be told every next step.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services and microservices.
- Develop clean, reliable APIs and server-side applications.
- Work with databases, data models, and performance optimization.
- Integrate back-end functionality with front-end systems.
- Support deployment, infrastructure, and cloud-based workflows.
- Contribute to technical architecture and codebase improvements.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve speed, debugging, testing, documentation, and code quality.
- Break requirements into tasks, estimate work, communicate progress, and take ownership of delivery.
- Investigate issues, propose solutions, and keep projects moving when problems arise.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in back-end web development, with the ability to design, build, and maintain microservices.
- Deep understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, clean architecture, APIs, databases, and maintainable system design.
- Strong ability to use AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools to improve development speed, debugging, testing, documentation, and code quality, while taking full responsibility for reviewing, understanding, and validating all code produced.
- Good knowledge of Python, SQL, Terraform, and the ability to write clean, reliable, maintainable code.
- Experience with front-end development and the ability to integrate back-end functionality smoothly with user-facing interfaces.
- Ability to lead technical delivery independently: break requirements into tasks, estimate work, manage priorities, communicate progress clearly, and drive projects forward without waiting to be told every next step.
- Strong problem-solving mindset: able to investigate issues, propose solutions, unblock themselves, ask the right questions, and keep pushing until a workable solution is found.
- Familiarity with AWS, GitHub, PostgreSQL, FastAPI, Pydantic, Docker, and modern development workflows.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, quick learning ability, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
