Job Purpose

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Khalifa University seeks highly qualified and motivated faculty members at all academic ranks ( Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor ) in Chemical Engineering . The successful candidates will contribute to the department’s rapidly growing research and educational programs, fostering innovation and academic excellence in support of the UAE’s strategic priorities in energy transition, decarbonization, digitalization, and sustainable technologies .

Faculty members will play a key role in enhancing the department’s international standing through cutting-edge research, high-quality teaching, and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Molecular Thermodynamics and Advanced Computational Methods: Focusing on phase behavior, transport phenomena, and process modeling to achieve molecular-level understanding for process design and innovation.
• Circular Economy and Sustainable Conversion Technologies: Advancing catalysis, reaction engineering, and process systems to enable sustainable production of fuels, chemicals, and materials.
• Energy Systems and Electrochemical Engineering: Integrating materials design, thermodynamics, kinetics, and transport principles to improve energy production, conversion, storage, and utilization, including hydrogen, batteries, and electrochemical systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent, high-impact research leading to internationally recognized publications.
• Develop and sustain an externally funded research program aligned with departmental priorities.
• Teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students with a commitment to academic excellence.
• Mentor students and junior researchers , fostering their academic and professional development.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental service activities.
• Collaborate across disciplines and engage with industry partners and research centers to translate research into practical applications.
• Support the department’s efforts to enhance its international visibility and contribute to the university’s strategic research goals.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of research excellence with high-impact publications.
• Proven teaching experience and success in student supervision.
• Evidence of ability to secure and manage externally funded research projects .
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills .
• Interest in multidisciplinary collaboration and contributing to departmental growth.
