The Assistant Laundry Manager reports to the Laundry Manager and supports Laundry and Valet operations, including colleague uniforms, inventories, budgets, and team activities.
Operations and uniforms
- Provide professional, friendly, and engaging service.
- Coordinate with Rooms and Food & Beverage to execute their uniform programs.
- Create and revise Standard Operating Procedures for Laundry and Valet departments.
- Support the Laundry Department during the Laundry Manager's absence.
- Conduct uniform inventories twice a year and assist with quarterly linen inventories.
- Order uniforms through the appropriate purchasing structure and maintain par levels.
- Organize colleague measuring and sizing; track uniforms for new hires and implement an effective return policy.
- Research, analyze, present, and implement new departmental uniforms.
Department management
- Maintain uniform budgets and ensure daily payroll completion.
- Handle guest feedback or concerns about the guest laundry program professionally.
- Coach and conduct performance reviews for Laundry and Valet team members.
- Prepare weekly Wildly Important Goals aligned with hotel goals.
- Present new initiatives to the Senior Management Team.
- Conduct monthly communication meetings and promote Laundry and Valet accomplishments.
- Maintain a safe, hazard-free work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Ability to multitask regularly; highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong leadership skills and initiative, with the ability to build relationships with colleagues.
- Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Flexible and able to work a variety of shifts.
- Formal education in hospitality or tourism is an asset.
- Articulate, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
