Directs and works with employees to clean and maintain guestrooms and public spaces, completes inspections, and supports guest and employee satisfaction within the operating budget.
Education and experience
- Candidate must meet one of these alternatives: high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of housekeeping or related professional experience; or a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with no experience required.
Housekeeping operations
- Keeps knowledge of OSHA regulations current and oversees lost-and-found procedures.
- Uses cleaning and checkout lists to prepare assignments; communicates room status to the Front Desk.
- Maintains adequate stock, supplies, equipment, uniforms, linens, and guest supplies and assists with ordering.
- Coordinates room maintenance needs with Engineering and supervises shifts in line with housekeeping policies and standards.
- Complies with loss-prevention policies and supervises inspections and corrective action.
Guest and employee service
- Handles guest problems and complaints, reviews guest satisfaction feedback, and supports excellent customer service.
- Supports training and accident investigations; communicates performance expectations, coaches employees, and participates in appraisals.
- Manages payroll administration, staffing, scheduling, time and attendance, and progressive discipline.
- Participates in hiring and supervises housekeeping in the absence of the Director of Services or Housekeeping Manager.
- Observes employee service behaviors, provides feedback, and follows up on areas needing attention.
