Job Summary

The Assistant Cost Controller is responsible for supporting the monitoring and controlling of food, beverage, and operational costs of the restaurant.

The role includes checking inventory, monitoring stock movement, preparing daily and monthly cost reports, verifying invoices, and ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring food and beverage costs.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inventory/counts.
  • Verify purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices.
  • Monitor stock movement and identify variances or discrepancies.
  • Prepare cost control reports and submit to management.
  • Ensure proper receiving, storing, and issuing procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate with kitchen, store, and purchasing departments.
  • Check wastage, spoilage, and expiry reports.
  • Monitor portion control and recipe compliance.
  • Assist in menu costing and pricing analysis.
  • Ensure all inventory records are accurate and updated.
  • Support month-end inventory and audit activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
  • Follow company policies, hygiene, and safety standards.

Job Requirementseducation

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years experience in cost control, accounting, or inventory within restaurant or hospitality industry preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of food and beverage costing procedures.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory systems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of inventory and stock management.
  • Honest, organized, and trustworthy.
  • Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in restaurant operations or hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with POS and inventory software systems.
  • Understanding of purchasing and receiving procedures.

Working Conditions

  • May require working during inventory schedules, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
  • Combination of office and operational/store area work.
