Role overview

ADM is seeking an Architect and Senior Developer in its IT Department in the City of London.

The role designs and delivers software across trading, operational, and regulatory systems, including in-house systems and front-, middle-, and back-office integrations.

The role defines solution architecture and translates requirements into secure, maintainable, and well-documented releases.

Architecture responsibilities

  • Oversee architecture across trading, clearing, and post-trade systems and integrations with CCPs, exchanges, vendors, and customers.
  • Modernise integration patterns and frameworks while reinforcing security principles.
  • Steer data architecture strategy and ensure data quality, ownership, security, and accessibility.
  • Chair architecture governance forums and produce architecture documentation, decision records, and target-state blueprints.
  • Design resilient systems that meet RTO/RPO requirements and FCA operational resilience obligations.
  • Drive DevSecOps and infrastructure-as-code adoption and mentor engineering teams on architecture and cloud-native practices.

Regulatory and AI responsibilities

  • Meet regulatory obligations by design, including EMIR, MiFID II, DORA, and other relevant global requirements.
  • Contribute to change management and incident management frameworks.
  • Support governance of AI solutions so they are secure, explainable, compliant, and aligned with data protection and internal risk guidance.

Technical and domain requirements

  • Deep financial markets technology knowledge and experience designing systems for listed derivatives, securities, and/or FX processing are required.
  • The role requires understanding of order processing, execution, risk management, margining, collateral, valuation, and give-up processing.
  • Strong FIX protocol knowledge, CCP or vendor connectivity, event-driven architecture, message brokers, and real-time data pipelines are required.
  • Knowledge of UK, EU, and US regulatory frameworks including EMIR, MiFID II, CASS, MAR, DORA, and CFTC is required.
  • Proficiency in microservices, containerisation, and cloud architecture is required, preferably with Azure experience.
  • Expertise in .NET, C#, and SQL Server is required; React.js and Python are desirable.

Experience and qualifications

  • The role requires 10+ years of software engineering or infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years in a senior architecture role.
  • A university degree, ideally in Computer Science or a related field, is listed in the candidate profile.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to C-suite and technical stakeholders are required.

Future perspective

  • ADM describes challenging work, short decision-making processes, personal responsibility, flexible work time models, career development, continuous learning, and employee networks.
  • Benefits include remuneration, social benefits, health and fitness support, parental leave support, and mental-health awareness training.
