We are looking for an apprentice to join our Power business division within the Jones Lighting team who offer a range of high-quality services to our clients including street lighting, ICP Works, DNO Contractor Services and LV Overhead Line works, Electrical Design, Car Charging Solutions and HV and Cable Lay works.

You will join the team who deliver bespoke street lighting solutions, based out of our Sefton depot and some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical & Highway Installation: Working alongside senior technicians to install, maintain, test, and repair low-voltage highway electrical equipment (e.g., street lighting, illuminated signs, traffic signals).
  • Site Safety & Compliance: Applying exemplary health, safety, and environmental procedures on site in full compliance with NHSS8 and HERS sector standards.
  • Testing & Fault Finding: Assisting with initial verification, electrical inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis.
  • Emergency Attendance: Participating in emergency call-outs and repair work (e.g., vehicular damage to roadside electrical assets) alongside experienced staff.

As an apprentice with United Infrastructure, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

You’ll get a generous holiday allowance, Christmas shutdown, and a tailored benefits portal that allows you to choose the right benefits for you.

In order to fully develop in your role, you will be enrolled onto a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification with one of our training partners.

You will attend face to face classes, either on a day or block release basis and will receive one-to-one support from your tutor or coach.

They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have:

  • GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C including English and Mathematics

• Level 2 Electrical Qualification

  • Good organisation, time management and communication skills
  • Able to reliably commute to and from our Sefton depot for early morning starts.
  • Aged 18+ and have a full clean driving licence as this role requires you to travel to our project sites.
  • Good level of physical fitness and able to work at height.

You must also be available to start full-time work now:

  • The commitment to live and breathe our company values during your work and studies.
  • The motivation and dedication to successfully complete your apprenticeship programme.

Please note, as this is an apprenticeship programme, in order to be eligible to apply you must not already have an equivalent level or higher qualification in the occupational area, or significant work experience.
