Role overview

Architecture and delivery

• Define architecture, design principles, technology choices, and implementation patterns aligned with business needs and enterprise standards.
• Translate requirements into architecture views, technical designs, integration specifications, and delivery guidance.
• Design microservices, API contracts, asynchronous communication, resilience, observability, and service-level data ownership.
• Assess solution trade-offs across cost, schedule, complexity, security, performance, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
• Guide implementation, reviews, problem-solving, architecture decisions, and technical risk management.
• Define and validate non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, accessibility, privacy, security, and recoverability.
• Guide DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, deployment, monitoring, and production readiness.
• Support planning, estimates, proof-of-concept work, deployment, and transition to operations; maintain architecture documentation.

Required qualifications

• Degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant enterprise business-application design and delivery experience; experience guiding multidisciplinary teams through the software development lifecycle.
• Strong application architecture, design principles, integration patterns, API design, microservices, event-driven applications, and relational databases knowledge.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot, Angular, containerized OpenShift applications, and Microsoft Azure experience.
• Practical DevOps and DevSecOps knowledge, including CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation, and monitoring.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; ability to create architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
• Secret clearance is required; candidates must have lived in Canada for at least 10 years to be eligible.

Preferred qualifications

• Public-sector or other regulated-environment experience is preferred.
• Azure architecture and secure cloud operations, enterprise architecture governance, and relevant technical certifications are preferred.

Technology environment

• Application technologies include Angular, Java with Spring Boot, Hibernate, Spring Integration, and microservices with data segregated by service.
• Integration includes Red Hat Streams for Apache Kafka, JSON message contracts, OpenShift Service Mesh, and Red Hat Data Grid.
• Cloud and delivery tools include Azure Red Hat OpenShift, Helm, OpenShift Pipelines, Kaniko, Maven, Argo CD, Red Hat Dev Spaces, and Red Hat DevHub.
• Data, testing, security, and operations tools include Azure SQL Database, Flyway, Playwright, Dynatrace, and Keycloak.

Work arrangement

• The role is hybrid and located in Ottawa, Ontario.

Compensation

• The stated estimated compensation range is $120,000–$170,000; the posting does not specify a pay cadence.
