Role overview

The Independent Aftermarket Analyst leads performance analytics, revenue strategy support, forecasting, and decision support.

The role turns sales, market, customer, financial, and operational data into insights for strategy, revenue generation, customer experience, and profitable growth.

The role requires independent judgment, prioritization, cross-functional influence, and analytical leadership.

Analytics and planning

  • Own recurring reporting on sales, revenue, volume, mix, growth, forecast and plan performance, incentives, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop short- and long-term forecasts and support business planning, operating reviews, quarterly updates, and revenue planning.
  • Analyze actuals against forecasts, budgets, prior-year results, and targets; identify drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Build scenario analyses and what-if models for commercial decisions, including pricing, incentives, promotions, and market conditions.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and management reports using Excel, Power BI, EPICOR, mainframe applications, SQL-based sources, or similar tools.
  • Manage monthly accruals, revenue adjustments, incentive reporting, and other performance management activities.

Returns and controls

  • Process, validate, and track ACDelco customer returns through final disposition in coordination with distribution centers, internal partners, and customers.
  • Monitor return aging, exceptions, credits, claims, account balances, and unresolved transactions; research discrepancies and balance return reserves annually.
  • Maintain audit-ready return documentation and recommend actions to reduce revenue leakage, improve processes, data quality, and automation.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, marketing, analytics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of experience in sales or commercial analytics, revenue planning, forecasting, business intelligence, finance, or sales operations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, formulas, and scenario modeling.
  • Working knowledge of mainframe systems and transaction-based research.
  • Experience developing performance reports, dashboards, forecasts, revenue plans, incentive analyses, or business-planning analyses.

Preferred qualifications

  • Automotive, automotive parts, dealership, service, wholesale, or Independent Aftermarket experience is preferred.
  • Experience with parts distribution or centralized returns, reserve or accrual accounting, GMAS audits, financial controls, or customer credit reconciliation is preferred.
  • Power BI, SQL, Tableau, eSMART, or similar business intelligence experience is preferred.
  • Experience with forecasting, revenue planning, incentive effectiveness, market analysis, customer economics, or performance reporting is preferred.
  • Presentation experience and the ability to communicate findings clearly, work autonomously, manage priorities, collaborate, and influence without direct authority are preferred.

Role context

The analyst evaluates commercial opportunities and incentive effectiveness and recommends actions to improve business results.
