Role and company

WEVEND builds payment technology, customer portals, and internal systems for retailers.

The engineering team uses Anthropic Claude and Claude Code as its standard development environment.

What you'll do

  • Turn product and operations requirements into specifications, acceptance criteria, and test cases; use Claude to research and refine them.
  • Direct Claude Code to build, refactor, and fix features in small changes that are easy to review and roll back.
  • Maintain CLAUDE.md instructions, reusable commands, hooks, permissions, and MCP connections; protect secrets and cardholder data.
  • Check AI-generated changes using automated tests, CI, and careful line-by-line review for correctness and security.
  • Route payment, refund, reconciliation, authentication, and PCI-scope changes to senior engineers for line-level review before merge.
  • Deploy features to cloud infrastructure with guidance, protected branches, and CI, and monitor production behavior.
  • Share effective practices, document patterns, and improve team use of Claude and Claude Code.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on Claude Code experience, including CLAUDE.md instructions and multi-step builds, plus at least one working project or tool built with Claude Code.
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Design, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on AI-tool-building experience.
  • Able to read code line by line, spot logic errors that tests miss, and fix small bugs by hand when needed.
  • Structured problem-solving, a testing mindset, and ability to check edge cases such as rounding, retries, and duplicate requests.
  • Comfort with a terminal and Git, including branches, pull requests, and worktrees; clear written communication.
  • Provide a Claude Code project link and be prepared to explain how you directed the agent.

Additional assets

  • Claude Code sub-agents, custom hooks, or MCP server setup experience.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; exposure to payments or fintech; or experience in a PCI DSS-compliant environment.
  • A background in product, QA or test automation, technical support, solutions engineering, or data.

Pay

  • $65,000–$75,000 per year.

Interview process

  • Candidates may use Claude throughout the process. The practical interview is a 60-minute session using Claude Code to scope, build, and test an enhancement while explaining decisions.
