Advanced Trauma Nurse

Overview

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor trauma patients presenting with soft tissue injuries, facial trauma, hand injuries, burns, and complex wounds.
• Assist plastic surgeons during emergency and elective reconstructive procedures.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for plastic and reconstructive surgery patients.
• Perform advanced wound assessment and dressing changes according to established protocols.
• Monitor skin grafts, flaps, wound healing, and surgical outcomes.
• Assist in the management of burn patients, including wound care and pain management.
• Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products as prescribed.
• Monitor patients for complications such as infection, bleeding, tissue compromise, and delayed wound healing.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and nursing records.

Trauma Care Responsibilities

• Participate in trauma team activations and emergency response situations.
• Assist in the stabilization and management of patients with traumatic injuries requiring reconstructive intervention.
• Collaborate with emergency, intensive care, orthopedic, and general surgery teams to ensure comprehensive trauma care.
• Support the management of complex wounds, degloving injuries, lacerations, and tissue loss resulting from trauma.

Patient Education and Support

• Educate patients and families regarding wound care, postoperative instructions, scar management, and recovery expectations.
• Provide emotional support and counseling to patients experiencing traumatic injuries or reconstructive procedures.
• Ensure patients understand discharge instructions and follow-up care requirements.
• Quality and Safety
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and accreditation activities.
• Maintain compliance with DHA regulations and evidence-based nursing practices.

Professional Development

• Participate in continuing education programs related to trauma, plastic surgery, wound care, and burn management.
• Maintain professional competency and required certifications.
• Mentor junior nursing staff and support clinical training activities when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
• Valid Registered Nurse license (DHA eligibility/license preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Trauma, Emergency, Surgical, Plastic Surgery, Burn Unit, or Critical Care Nursing.
• Certification in trauma and emergency nursing is preferred. Required Certifications
• Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
• Valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification.
• **ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Certification or equivalent trauma certification, where applicable.**
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Preferred.
• ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) – Preferred.
• Wound Care and Burn Management Training – Preferred.
• Pay: From AED4,500.00 per hour
