Accounts Manager

About This Role

The Role

You will lead the finance function end-to-end — financial reporting, treasury, trade finance, credit control, costing, tax, and audit. You will be the company financial co-pilot: turning numbers into decisions, defending margins, managing cash flow like oxygen, and keeping the company audit-ready and compliant at all times.

This is a builder's role. You will inherit a working accounting setup Zoho and Airtable. You will be expected to professionalize the function: tighten controls, sharpen reporting, optimize working capital, and manage the planned migration of accounting platforms.

Key Responsibilities — Reporting & Controls

• Own the monthly financial close: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reporting pack.
• Design and enforce internal and financial risk controls — segregation of duties, approval matrices, expense policies, and invoice reconciliation procedures.
• Lead annual external audit and prepare statutory financial statements compliant with applicable accounting standards.
• Maintain the chart of accounts, costing structure, and product-level profitability analysis across all business models.
• Manage daily cash flow, banking relationships, and foreign exchange exposure across multiple currencies.
• Structure and operate trade finance instruments: letters of credit, discounting facilities, trust receipts, bank guarantees, and supplier credit arrangements.
• Run the credit control function: customer credit limits, aging analysis, collections, and bad-debt provisioning.
• Negotiate with banks for working capital facilities, foreign exchange rates, and trade finance terms.
• Own VAT compliance, returns, and reconciliations. Manage Corporate Tax registration, computation, and filings.
• Maintain corporate regulatory compliance including economic substance, beneficial ownership, and anti-money laundering requirements where applicable.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, regulatory authorities, and government agencies.
• Lead and develop the accounting team — set objectives, review deliverables, and build technical capabilities.
• Partner with senior management on pricing strategy, margin protection, commercial analytics, and capital allocation decisions..

Must-Have Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• Minimum 5 years' progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 1 years at Manager level.
• Deep knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax — registration, filings, audits, and refund procedures.
• Hands-on experience with trade finance: LCs, LC discounting, BGs, trust receipts.
• Strong IFRS technical skills and audit-handling experience.
• Advanced Excel — financial modelling, pivot analysis, lookup logic — is non-negotiable.
• Proven team leadership and people-management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal English; ability to communicate financial concepts to non-finance executives.

Strong Advantages

• Prior finance leadership in a chemical, commodity, or industrial trading company.
• Hands-on experience with Zoho Books and Zoho Inventory; experience leading an ERP migration is a major plus.
• Multi-currency, multi-country operations exposure (GCC, Africa, Middle East).
• Familiarity with Airtable or low-code finance dashboards.
• Arabic language for liaison with banks and government bodies.
