Overview
Pregoneros is seeking a meticulous and ethically driven Zakat Accountant to join our finance team in Doha.
This role is responsible for calculating, managing, and reporting Zakat obligations in accordance with Islamic principles and applicable accounting standards.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with a deep understanding of Sharia-compliant financial practices and a high level of integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate Zakat obligations in accordance with Sharia principles and organizational policies
- Review financial statements and determine Zakatable assets and liabilities
- Prepare accurate Zakat reports and supporting documentation for management and compliance purposes
- Ensure proper recording and classification of Zakat-related transactions
- Collaborate with finance and compliance teams to ensure accurate Zakat treatment in financial reporting
- Support audits and provide necessary documentation related to Zakat calculations
- Monitor changes in Islamic finance guidelines and ensure compliance with updated standards
- Assist in budgeting and financial planning with consideration of Zakat obligations
- Maintain transparent and accurate records of all Zakat computations and payments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to Islamic finance or Zakat calculations
- Strong understanding of Sharia principles related to Zakat and Islamic financial obligations
- Knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards is an advantage
- High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Strong ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting
Preferred Skills
- Certification or training in Islamic finance or Zakat accounting is an advantage
- Experience in non-profit, Islamic financial institutions, or faith-based organizations
- Familiarity with AAOIFI standards or similar frameworks
- Strong communication and reporting skills
