Job Purpose
Manage empty yard operations to ensure that the yard operational movements are in conformity with defined procedures and policies of the terminal.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible and hands on involved in empty yard operations in each shift
- Give proper instructions to equipment operators to ensure that stacking is as planned
- Track container movement in empty yard (discharge, loading)
- Coordinate with West Yard Planner to ensure that there is sufficient space in empty yard for the discharge containers, before the arrival of the vessels
- Assign and position equipment operators according to the operation requirements
- Monitor operations to avoid any empty yard congestion or yard equipment conflict during operations
- Take immediate action for equipment break downs in empty yard to avoid operational delays
- Closely coordinate with dispatchers for assigning equipment's to containers and ensure smooth yard operations
- Closely coordinate with Planning section to understand number of empty containers nominated for loading on the vessel
- Monitor and report empty yard inventory
- To control the receiving clerks at both gates while receiving empty containers and arrange to offload the containers from the outside trucks.
Qualifications, Experience And Skills
- 2 to 3 years of experience in the container shipping and terminal operations industry
