About The Role

Creative Development & Design Leadership

• Lead the creative development of high-impact wig, hair, makeup, and prosthetic designs for stage shows, characters, dancers, seasonal events, and special activations.
• Collaborate with Entertainment Creative, Show Producers, and Costume Design teams to translate creative concepts into practical, repeatable, and performance-ready looks.
• Ensure all designs adhere to intellectual property guidelines, cultural sensitivity standards, safety protocols, and durability requirements for live performances.

Design Execution & Quality Control

• Create, review, and approve finalized looks for new productions, show refreshes, and restaged performances to maintain artistic integrity.
• Develop comprehensive visual references, look books, face charts, wig plots, and prosthetic documentation to ensure consistency across casts and performances.
• Conduct daily checks and audits to uphold company standards for hair, makeup, and prosthetics, ensuring performers meet expectations.

Team Leadership & Development

• Manage, mentor, and develop the Prosthetic, Wig & Makeup team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and professionalism.
• Schedule, assign, and oversee daily workloads, show coverage, and special project staffing to ensure operational efficiency.
• Provide hands-on coaching and training for performers and artists on application techniques, maintenance standards, and performance readiness.
• Conduct performance feedback sessions, skills development workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.

Operational & Inventory Management

• Oversee daily operations of the Wig & Makeup department, ensuring seamless support for all performances, rehearsals, and special events.
• Maintain accurate inventory control of wigs, makeup, prosthetics, tools, and consumables, with a focus on cost-effective forecasting and timely ordering.
• Establish and enforce standards for hygiene, safety, storage, and maintenance of all materials and equipment.
• Supervise wig washing, restyling, repairs, prosthetic fabrication, and lifecycle management to extend the usability of resources.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

• Work closely with Seamstresses, Costume Technicians, Costume Attendants, and Wardrobe leadership to ensure cohesive performer presentation.
• Participate in rehearsals, technical runs, and show installs to support creative alignment and troubleshoot challenges.
• Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and creative partners to ensure high-quality deliverables and vendor accountability.
• Support off-site and on-site public relations events, VIP appearances, and special projects as required.

Documentation & Reporting

• Develop and maintain detailed documentation for all wig, makeup, and prosthetic designs to ensure reproducibility and continuity.
• Support the Senior Director of Costuming with reports, planning, and special initiatives to align with broader departmental goals.
• Attend departmental and production meetings to ensure clear communication across costuming and entertainment teams.
• Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive working environment while supporting costume operations as needed, including laundry coordination and repairs.

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in a relevant field.
• Professional certification in Hair and Makeup.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in wig styling, makeup, and prosthetics, with a proven track record of managing a team.
• Demonstrated experience working with performers in live entertainment environments.
• Advanced knowledge of wig design, styling, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong makeup design skills for stage, character, dancer, and underwater applications.
• Prosthetic design, fabrication, and application expertise.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Previous experience working with performers.

Desirable

• Associate Degree or higher in Theatre, Fine Arts, Costume Design, or a related field.
• Certification in Special FX Makeup or Prosthetics.
• 3–5 years’ experience in theme parks, theatre, cruise ships, or large-scale productions.
• Prior experience leading or supervising teams in creative or production environments.
• Special FX makeup, body painting, and sculpting/mold-making skills.
• Airbrush and painting techniques, as well as wig making and advanced repairs.
• Knowledge of Costume Technology and experience managing budgets and teams.
• Background in show development or creative production environments.
• Theme park or large-scale entertainment experience.
