What you'll do
- You’ll be an important part of Vodafone’s Field Engineering team, helping to keep our customers confidently connected by installing, maintaining and supporting our fixed and mobile networks and business solutions. This will be a varied, hands-on role where you’ll work across different environments, including Vodafone infrastructure and rooftop locations. You’ll combine technical expertise with a strong focus on safety, quality and customer service while helping us continuously improve the way we work. You’ll install, commission, maintain and repair Vodafone network infrastructure, products and services to agreed quality and service standards. You’ll support a wide range of fixed and mobile technologies, including 3G/4G/5G, transmission, Ethernet, microwave radio, fibre, copper cabling and power systems. You’ll work safely at height, including regular climbing and rooftop-based activities, while following Vodafone’s health and safety requirements. You’ll diagnose and resolve faults, helping restore services efficiently while maintaining a high-quality customer experience. You’ll work closely with Field Delivery teams, Network Operations Centres, project teams, technical support teams, suppliers, partners and business customers. You’ll communicate clearly and professionally with both internal and external customers throughout your work. You’ll manage your own workload effectively, working independently when required while remaining connected with the wider team. You’ll identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working, helping us deliver greater operational efficiency and better outcomes for customers. You’ll work flexibly to meet business requirements, including travel and participation in a 24/7 callout rota and/or shift pattern when required.
Who you are
- You’ll have a formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent practical experience gained within a relevant technical environment. You’ll bring experience in telecoms service provision, fault diagnosis and resolution. You’ll have knowledge of technologies such as Cisco, Juniper and ADVA equipment, DWDM, Ethernet, 3G/4G/5G, microwave radio and DC power systems. You’ll have experience working with fibre and copper cabling, including termination. You’ll be comfortable working both collaboratively as part of a team and safely and effectively on your own. You’ll be organised and adaptable, with the ability to prioritise your workload, learn new skills and remain focused when working to tight deadlines. You’ll bring strong customer-facing and communication skills alongside good IT literacy. You’ll hold a valid full UK/EU Category B driving licence. You’ll be able to achieve and maintain the required SC clearance status. You’ll be able to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber/Tower Rescue certification and successfully complete the required ongoing health assessments. You’ll be comfortable with the physical requirements of the role, including climbing, manual lifting, walking, using stairs and working indoors and outdoors for extended periods. You may also bring an HND or degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience. Additional experience or accreditation in areas such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, wireless network design and deployment, LAN/Wi-Fi, unified communications or Advanced Climber/Tower Rescue would be an advantage. Worried that you don’t meet all the desired criteria exactly? We know that everyone is unique, with multiple aspects to their identity and different experiences behind them. We are passionate about Inclusion for All and creating a workplace where everyone can thrive, whatever their personal or professional background. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align exactly with every part of the job description, we encourage you to apply as you may be the right candidate for this role or another role, and our recruitment team can help you see how your skills fit in.
