Define the Market access Healthcare capability business development strategy along with a focused set of priorities in line with our broader strategic plan. The role will be instrumental in growing our Healthcare business within an end-to-end supply chain (across the two key capabilities within the vertical Market Access. This role will be responsible for the leadership, strategic alignment, business development (new revenue) and coordination within the DP World Africa Healthcare portfolio and will work closely with business and capability leaders to drive our diversification agenda bringing new Healthcare principals and clients in human, animal and consumer healthcare, medical devices and diagnostics for our clients and principals. This role will be the lead connection point to the Global and Regional Commercial teams and will be the nominal lead for the in-country business development teams in Healthcare.
Key Performance Areas
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of a robust business development strategy for the Healthcare Vertical within DP World Africa. This entails identifying and capitalizing on opportunities in new and existing geographies, categories and markets.
- Ensure that sub-regional Healthcare commercial teams are focussed on our new business growth agenda and align with our DPW Africa regional commercial leads as necessary to ensure that we capitalise on all market opportunities for the broader region within logistics and freight forwarding etc.
- Cultivate strong principal and client relationships to drive sales growth, aiming to meet and exceed revenue targets, while identifying areas where we can expand our relationships in markets/portfolio’s not currently managed
- Lead the business development agenda for Healthcare across the region and attend global and regional Healthcare events as required to build the Healthcare pipeline.
- Build, lead and manage a team of relevant professionals to drive business development outcomes in new categories ensuring that we provide relevant and timely data into the commercial tracking processes and systems for business development.
- Standardise BD processes across Healthcare and oversee the Healthcare pipeline health views into the commercial operations
- Manage an effective execution of the category expansion strategy together with in-markets MD’s to drive new principal satisfaction and build a reputational expertise in new areas
- Build positive relationships at MD level in our Healthcare to ensure that our pipeline is strengthened rapidly.
- Identify new capabilities in operations to deliver client or principal satisfaction and influence Healthcare MDs accordingly. Accelerate shared learning and best practice adoption for business development and operational execution.
- Ensure cross functional collaboration at regional & global level representing Africa Healthcare at internal events as required. Be the key contact point for Global Logistics.
- Manage the components of the 3–5-year healthcare ambition to ensure internal alignment and upward reporting to Executive reviews.
- Coordinate with all the in-country marketing and commercial teams to drive the growth across the region.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's or equivalent 3-year degree (NQF Level 7).
Experience and Skills Required
- Have a minimum of 20 years’ experience within Pharma, Healthcare, sales, marketing, distribution, or supply chain industry.
- More than 10 years BD & Commercial experience across multiple capabilities and with a proven success of selling integrated end to end solutions.
- Exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of contractual requirements
- Successful MD Experience in Healthcare in Africa is a distinct advantage from a credibility perspective.
