Role information

Treaty administration

• Administer reinsurance treaties throughout the contract lifecycle, including onboarding, implementation, inventories, documentation, and operational workflows.
• Interpret treaty provisions and coordinate changes, amendments, and operational setup.
• Monitor treaty performance, identify operational risks and control gaps, and recommend process improvements.
• Manage ModCo, funds withheld arrangements, annuity reinsurance programs, and Pension Risk Transfer agreements.

Accounting and settlement operations

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close-related reinsurance activities.
• Calculate and process billings and settlements; prepare journal entries and manage premiums, claims reimbursements, reserve settlements, and other treaty balances.
• Resolve outstanding recoverables and settlement discrepancies; coordinate with Finance and Accounting for accurate reporting.
• Support general ledger reconciliations and account certification.

Reconciliations and controls

• Reconcile operational systems, accounting records, settlement reports, and treaty calculations; investigate variances and exceptions.
• Execute and document SOX controls, support control testing and remediation, and maintain audit-ready documentation.

Reporting, audit, and governance

• Prepare recurring operational and financial reports, support KPI development, and provide analytics for decision-making.
• Provide reinsurance data and insights to Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, and Risk Management stakeholders using reporting and BI platforms.
• Support internal, external, and regulatory audits and applicable statutory, GAAP, and regulatory reporting.
• Participate in governance and data quality initiatives and respond to audit inquiries.

Stakeholder management

• Liaise across Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Reinsurance Strategy, Technology, reinsurers, and external auditors.
• Facilitate issue resolution and operational decisions and explain reinsurance concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Manage Modified Coinsurance, funds withheld arrangements, annuity reinsurance programs, and Pension Risk Transfer agreements.
• Support accounting close, reinsurance billings and settlements, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Execute and document SOX controls and maintain audit-ready supporting documentation.
• Support statutory, GAAP, regulatory, internal, and external audit activities.
• Use reporting tools and business intelligence platforms to support transparency and operational performance.
• Communicate complex reinsurance concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
