The Underwriting Manager supports oversight of the UK pet insurance portfolio and its alignment with business goals and customer satisfaction.
The role works with partner insurers, internal teams, and external stakeholders on underwriting governance and portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
- Draft and review clear, concise policy wordings and product documentation.
- Resolve operational, claims, and technical underwriting queries within agreed timeframes.
- Develop and deploy underwriting rules in Earnix with trading teams.
- Monitor underwriting footprint, performance, loss ratios, governance, and risk controls.
- Contribute to underwriting roadmaps and product, rating, risk-appetite, and quotability improvements.
- Improve processes and guides, and embed underwriting understanding across the business.
- Assess legal and regulatory changes with Compliance and Legal and support product oversight.
- Build trusted relationships with external partners and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
Skills and experience
- Experienced Senior Underwriter or Underwriting Manager with a few years of underwriting experience.
- Experience writing and developing personal-lines policy wordings.
- Pet insurance experience is preferred.
- Recognised technical manager of an insurance portfolio who can balance business objectives and customer satisfaction.
