Underground Miner / Equipment Operator

Role overview

Project location

• The primary work location for project assignments is underground.

Duties

• Work safely and efficiently as a collaborative team member.
• Take part in safety meetings and inspections and follow standard operating procedures.
• Operate scoops, alpine miners, drum cutters, flexiveyors, and other mining equipment.
• Operate bolting and scaling machines.
• Install belt lines and perform rehabilitation work as required.
• Communicate with Maintenance and Operations and perform other onsite duties as required.

Qualifications and experience

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in an underground potash setting.
• Training and experience running continuous miners, alpine miners, scoops, bolters, scalers, and other underground mining equipment are preferred.
• Strong safety record and commitment to safety, teamwork, and collaboration.
• Ability to work day and night shifts.
• GMSA certification is an asset; other valid safety-related training certificates such as WHMIS, forklift, and fall protection are also assets.
• Able to work collaboratively, understand and follow instructions, and work independently or in a team.
• Strong time-management and interpersonal skills; credibility, integrity, and professionalism.
• Mechanically inclined, physically fit, and able to safely handle heavy loads.
• Equivalent combinations of training, education, and experience may be considered.
