Role overview

Drax seeks a Truck Driver to support safe fibre operations by transporting and managing materials between the Weyerhaeuser site and Princeton Pellet Plant.

The role begins with labourer duties and includes cross-training in plant operations and other operational roles.

Compensation

  • Hourly wage: $31.51.

Schedule

  • The schedule is 12-hour shifts, currently three shifts per week; it may change with operational requirements.

Driving and operations

  • Inspect vehicles before trips and when switching trucks; empty sawdust and planer-shavings bins at the Gorman mill and transport fibre on the Princeton site.
  • Enter scale data accurately and submit fibre tickets to the office.
  • Operate skid steers and loaders for housekeeping and fibre-yard tasks; assist loader operations when needed.
  • Maintain truck and plant housekeeping, perform routine vehicle maintenance and minor repairs, and record all work in unit logbooks.
  • Train for the Control Room Operator role and cover weekday shifts as required. Weekend drivers ensure Similkameen Forest Products bins are emptied by 3:30 AM Sunday.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s licence.
  • General valid driver’s licence.
