Role overview
Trainee role involving analysis of materials to identify asbestos fibres.
Full in-house training is provided, with progression expected toward a qualified Bulk Analyst position.
The role will involve
- Analyze bulk materials for asbestos content.
- Manage daily workload and laboratory workload, including booking samples into the in-house system.
- Complete internal and external quality control.
- Maintain daily workbook records of samples entered and sent out.
- Follow technical procedures and communicate with colleagues.
Candidate requirements
- Good communication skills, sustained focus, ability to meet timescales and avoid distractions, and ability to work alone without supervision in a laboratory.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work toward further qualifications and achieve the P401 qualification is essential; training is provided.
- Laboratory experience or knowledge of the asbestos industry is helpful but not essential.

Franks Portlock is a UKAS-accredited asbestos consultancy specializing in asbestos and environmental testing, surveys and consultancy.
The company has experience in asbestos surveying, sample analysis, air testing and four-stage clearance testing.
