Test Engineer

About This Role

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and analysis of testing activities for advanced weapon systems, including missiles, torpedoes, artillery shells, and guided munitions. This role focuses on instrumentation, data acquisition, and validation of systems operating under extreme mechanical and environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute test plans and procedures for mechanical and weapon system validation.
• Set up and manage instrumentation , including strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermocouples.
• Select and integrate load cells and sensors based on test requirements.
• Configure and operate data acquisition systems to capture high-quality test data.
• Conduct vibration testing using shaker tables to simulate operational environments.
• Perform environmental testing (temperature, humidity, shock, etc.).
• Lead fatigue testing and durability assessments.
• Develop and execute test-to-failure protocols to evaluate system limits and safety margins.
• Analyze test data and provide detailed technical reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with design and analysis teams to improve system performance and reliability.

Required Qualifications:

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering , Aerospace Engineering , or related field.
• 10–20+ years of engineering experience , specifically within weapon systems (missiles, torpedoes, artillery shells, or guided munitions).
• Strong fundamentals in at least two or more of the following:
• Weapon systems
• Solid mechanics
• Dynamics & vibration
• Heat transfer
• Fatigue & fracture mechanics
• Thermo-mechanical analysis
• Material modeling
• Experience applying GD&T principles , ideally in defence or precision engineering environments.

Technical Skills:

• Hands-on experience with test instrumentation (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples).
• Strong knowledge of sensor selection , calibration, and integration.
• Proficiency with data acquisition systems and signal processing.
• Experience with vibration, environmental, and fatigue testing methods .
• Advanced CAD knowledge and ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Preferred Experience:

• Background in defence or aerospace testing environments .
• Experience testing systems under high G, high vibration, or extreme environmental conditions .
• Familiarity with test-to-failure and qualification testing standards .
