Role overview
Own pre-sales technical scoping of integrations and custom development for new and expanding customers.
Turn customer needs into clear, feasible scope and maintain technical accountability for that scope through the project.
The role does not build, configure, engineer or technically test solutions; those activities sit with Product and Engineering, while delivery sits with Implementation.
Pre-sales consulting and scope
- Lead discovery across HRIS, payroll, leave, time and attendance, EPOS, LMS, BI, middleware, identity and other third-party systems.
- Map systems of record, data flows, interfaces, dependencies, operational constraints and the customer technology environment.
- Assess feasibility and classify requirements as standard, configurable, bespoke, out of scope or dependent on Product and Engineering.
- Define requirements, mappings, transformation rules, validation logic and exception-handling expectations.
- Set customer and vendor responsibilities, assumptions, exclusions, prerequisites and technical constraints.
- Provide estimates with assumptions and confidence levels, validating with Product and Engineering where required.
- Support proposals, solution designs, commercial line items and statements of work.
- Define acceptance criteria, test responsibilities, dependencies and cutover assumptions before signature; resolve or caveat open questions.
Handover
- Produce structured handover packs covering scope, specifications, mappings, interface inventory, assumptions, exclusions, acceptance criteria, dependencies, risks and open questions.
- Bring Product, Engineering and Implementation teams together in handover sessions so they understand what was agreed and why.
Role approach
Challenge unclear requirements, identify delivery risks early, clarify what is agreed and ensure technical commitments are realistic before customer signature.
Requirements
- Ability to lead technical discovery with prospects across HRIS, payroll, leave, time and attendance, EPOS, LMS, BI, middleware, identity and other third-party systems.
- Ability to understand systems of record, data flows, interfaces, dependencies, operational constraints and customer technology environments.
- Ability to assess requirements as standard, configurable, bespoke, out of scope or dependent on Product and Engineering delivery.
- Ability to define integration and custom development requirements, mappings, transformation rules, validation logic and exception-handling expectations.
- Ability to define customer and vendor responsibilities, assumptions, exclusions, prerequisites and technical constraints.
- Ability to provide delivery estimates with clear assumptions and confidence levels, validating them with Product and Engineering where needed.
- Ability to establish acceptance criteria, test responsibilities, delivery dependencies and cutover assumptions before contract signature.
- Ability to produce structured technical handover packs and facilitate handover sessions with Product, Engineering and Implementation.
