About the Role

As a Technical Sales professional supporting Thern’s theatrical customers, you will combine your theatre background with technical problem-solving and customer service. You will help customers define project requirements, select appropriate products, develop cost estimates, and coordinate solutions from initial inquiry through installation and post-sale support.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, and project management resources, you will help align customer expectations with product capabilities and delivery timelines. This role suits someone who understands theatrical environments, communicates technical information clearly, and follows through on the details that keep projects moving.

What You Will Do

  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to customer and prospect inquiries received through email, phone, the website, and other channels.
  • Build customer relationships through consistent communication, timely follow-up, and helpful technical support.
  • Work with customers to establish and document application requirements, system design needs, and project timelines.
  • Evaluate Thern’s ability to meet customer requirements and verify appropriate product selection, involving technical specialists when needed.
  • Prepare product cost estimates and delivery schedules using established estimating tools and procedures.
  • Follow up on quotes to confirm project status, answer questions, and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Enter customer orders accurately to initiate production and support order fulfillment.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, and project management resources on drawings, finished goods, and project milestones from order through equipment installation.
  • Provide post-sale support to confirm that solutions continue to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain current customer and prospect information through regular follow-up and communicate commercial terms according to company guidelines.
  • Help develop market segments and key accounts by identifying, qualifying, and engaging prospective customers.
  • Support parts and repair sales by troubleshooting issues, assessing customer needs, preparing repair quotes, and coordinating with the Parts & Service Specialist.
  • Travel as needed to visit customers and job sites, attend trade shows, and support other sales activities.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Background in theatre, performing arts, stage production, or a related theatrical environment, with familiarity with entertainment industry terminology, applications, and products.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction specifications, architectural drawings, technical procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and explain technical information to customers.
  • Strong math aptitude, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency when responding to customer needs.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote role while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory or manufacturing software and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to travel as required for customer visits, job sites, trade shows, and other sales responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Knowledge of manual and motorized stage rigging systems.
  • Experience with electrical equipment, particularly three-phase motorized equipment and automated controls.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to pass the required drug screening.

Why Join Thern
