Job Purpose

The Technical Manager is responsible for the technical management, maintenance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of the company's Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) fleet.

The role ensures vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, operational readiness, and cost efficiency while meeting all Class, Flag State, statutory, and Client requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical performance and condition of the assigned fleet.
  • Ensure vessels are maintained in accordance with Class, Flag State, statutory, and company requirements.
  • Monitor vessel technical performance, equipment reliability, and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Masters, Chief Engineers, and vessel management teams.
  • Develop and implement technical policies, procedures, and best practices across the fleet.
  • Safety-related responsibilities:
  • Assess potential technical risks and challenges and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential liabilities.
  • Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications.
  • Financial responsibilities:
  • Negotiate technical contracts with external stakeholders, such as classification societies, regulatory authorities, and contractors.
  • Prepare and manage annual technical operating budgets.
  • Monitor vessel maintenance costs, repair expenditures, and capital projects.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of technical experts.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to team members.
  • Set performance expectations and conduct performance reviews.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Engage in developing and implementing technical strategies for offshore projects.
  • Identify opportunities for technical innovation and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define project scope and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
  • Experience operating with Aramco / ADNOC.
  • Good proficiency in MS Office Suite and PMS.
  • Excellent English; Arabic is an added advantage
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role

Required Skills

  • Experience in the offshore industry, with a strong technical background.
  • Deep knowledge of relevant maritime and ports domains / products.
  • Experience in project management including the ability to plan, execute and oversee projects from concept to implementation.
  • Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas – loves and embraces change
