This part-time Technical Manager role at YASSA (Youth Alliance for Sustainable Solutions for Africa) is a hybrid position based in Dubai, with flexibility for partial work from home.
The Technical Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of technology-enabled projects that support YASSA’s sustainability and youth-focused initiatives.
Daily responsibilities include coordinating technical requirements with project teams, providing hands-on technical support, and guiding the design and execution of research and development (R&D) activities.
The role involves managing technical timelines and budgets, ensuring that project deliverables meet quality and impact goals, and maintaining clear documentation of systems, processes, and learnings.
The Technical Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor volunteers and junior team members, and contribute to continuous improvement of YASSA’s technical tools and platforms.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, including problem-solving, data interpretation, and ability to translate technical insights into actionable recommendations.
- Proven experience in team management, including mentoring, coordination of diverse stakeholders, and fostering inclusive, collaborative work environments.
- Hands-on technical support skills, such as troubleshooting software and platforms, user support, and coordinating with external technical vendors when needed.
- Experience in research and development (R&D), including designing pilots, testing new tools or approaches, and documenting findings for future scaling.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and on-time delivery of technical components.
- Familiarity with digital collaboration tools and basic IT infrastructure relevant to hybrid and remote work settings.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with youth-led, nonprofit, or sustainability-focused organizations is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, manage part-time hours effectively, and adapt to evolving organizational priorities.
