Technical Lead, Senior Database Engineer

Opportunity

Responsibilities

• Oversee database maintenance, performance, security, reliability, monitoring, and bottleneck resolution.
• Plan database capacity and costs, forecast seasonal demand, and right-size instances.
• Improve schemas, indexes, queries, autovacuum, and connection pooling across the fleet.
• Review design documents, data models, schema changes, and query patterns for performance, scale, and reporting.
• Collaborate on queries and migrations; minimize maintenance downtime.
• Mentor engineers and communicate SQL best practices.

Required qualifications

• At least 5 years as a Database Engineer managing and optimizing databases.
• At least 5 years of SQL experience and relational database experience, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Ability to diagnose performance issues and implement database best practices, including minimizing downtime.
• Experience with managed cloud database infrastructure; RDS is preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus skills

• Data warehousing experience is a bonus.
• Python and/or Java/Kotlin proficiency is a plus.
