Role overview
Technical Assistant supporting vessel operations, maintenance, compliance, procurement, and technical reporting.
The role is intended for a Marine Engineering graduate, including fresh graduates, seeking a career in ship management and technical operations.
The position reports to the Head of Technical.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor vessel performance, maintenance, and repairs with the technical team.
- Maintain technical records, reports, and documentation related to vessel operations.
- Support procurement of spares, stores, and consumables for vessels.
- Coordinate dry-docking, surveys, and inspections with relevant stakeholders.
- Help ensure compliance with class, flag state, and regulatory requirements, including IMO, SOLAS, and MARPOL.
- Analyze vessel performance data and prepare basic technical reports for management.
- Coordinate with ship crew, vendors, and classification societies on technical matters.
- Maintain the Planned Maintenance System and other operational databases.
Qualifications and skills
- B.E. or B.Tech in Marine Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Fresher or up to 2 years of experience in ship management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of ship operations, machinery, and maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office and technical documentation tools.
- Good analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Passion for learning and developing a career in technical ship management.
Preferred qualifications
- Cadetship or onboard training experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with technical management software, PMS, or ERP is advantageous.
