About Shafa Construction
Shafa Al Nahdah Building Contracting LLC is a Dubai-headquartered international contractor with 35+ years of experience and over 1,000 employees, operating across seven countries on three continents.
Specialising in civil and marine construction, port development, HVAC/electro-mechanical works, and ready-mix concrete, Shafa has delivered projects for clients including Hyundai, DP World, and Abu Dhabi Ports.
The company combines strong GCC delivery capability with a global track record and the financial strength to self-finance large-scale contracts.
About the Role
As Shafa's solution partner, Sauna Dekor is helping recruit a Technical Architect with strong fitout and interiors experience in the hospitality sector, to lead the production and coordination of shop drawings across joinery, flooring, and blockwork packages.
The role bridges design, site execution, and procurement, ensuring all technical documentation complies with design intent, brand/operator standards, and project specifications — working to demanding international hotel-operator quality benchmarks.
*Shop Drawings & Technical Documentation*
- Prepare, develop, and manage shop drawings for joinery/millwork, flooring (hard & soft finishes), and blockwork/partition packages from design intent to approved-for-construction status.
- Produce detailed setting-out drawings, sections, elevations, and large-scale details including junctions, transitions, and trade interfaces.
- Maintain shop drawing logs and submittal trackers; incorporate consultant/operator comments with full traceability.
*Drawing Review & Design Coordination*
- Review IFC drawings, ID packages, and specifications to identify discrepancies and buildability issues; raise and track RFIs to closure.
- Verify compliance with design intent, material specs, fire-rating requirements, and authority regulations.
- Coordinate finishes, ironmongery, FF&E, and millwork interfaces across architectural, ID, and specialist packages.
- *MEP Coordination*
- Coordinate architectural/interior packages with MEP services — RCPs, builder's work openings, and services integration within joinery and feature elements.
- Resolve clashes against combined services drawings prior to site execution; attend technical coordination meetings.
- *Procurement Support*
- Prepare and review material submittals, technical data sheets, and sample boards for approval.
- Support technical evaluation of supplier quotations and compliance reviews; liaise with suppliers and joinery workshops.
- Track long-lead items and flag procurement risks affecting the programme.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering.
- 5–8 years in fitout/construction, min. 3 years on hospitality projects (hotels, branded residences, F&B). International operator experience (Marriott, Hilton, Accor) a strong advantage.
- Proven track record producing shop drawings for joinery, flooring, and blockwork packages.
- Solid MEP and multidisciplinary coordination understanding.
- GCC experience preferred; Dubai authority familiarity an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Advanced AutoCAD (essential); Revit/BIM an advantage.
- Strong Excel for trackers/logs/comparison sheets; Word & PowerPoint for reporting.
- Ability to interpret specs, fire-rating requirements, and material standards (FD ratings, Euroclass, HPL/veneer).
- Knowledge of joinery fabrication, flooring systems, and blockwork/drywall construction.
Personal Attributes
- Detail-oriented · strong document control · effective communicator · deadline-driven · proactive, buildability-first problem-solver.
- Fluent in English; Arabic an advantage.
