Data engineering and development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, high-performance data transformation pipelines using dbt and Snowflake.
- Develop dbt models, reusable macros, Jinja templates, incremental models, and modular transformation frameworks.
- Design data models across staging, intermediate, core, and reporting layers.
- Build reusable processing components for multiple clients, source systems, and business needs.
- Implement complex SQL transformations using CTEs, window functions, joins, aggregations, and analytical functions.
Migration and modernization
- Analyze legacy SQL-based ETL systems and translate business rules into modern dbt and Snowflake implementations.
- Investigate discrepancies between legacy and modernized pipelines.
- Develop reconciliation, validation, and regression testing approaches to verify accuracy and functional equivalence.
- Identify process simplification and optimization opportunities while preserving business requirements.
Snowflake engineering and leadership
- Optimize Snowflake SQL transformations and analytical workloads, investigating query performance, execution plans, warehouse use, and bottlenecks.
- Work with Snowflake objects, permissions, schemas, and environments; troubleshoot processing failures and production performance issues.
- Take end-to-end technical ownership, make architectural decisions, review code, and provide technical guidance and mentoring.
