Role overview
Leads and coaches the R&D and Engineering team and serves as process developer and process owner.
The team maintains and develops products and technologies, ensuring electrical and mechanical design capability for project and task execution.
The role supports ABB Motion in a global R&D environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team and ensure capacity, competence, motivation, and high-quality execution of projects and tasks.
- Own and improve design processes, tools, and methodologies supporting product development and lifecycle management.
- Allocate and develop personnel using internal and external experts.
- Ensure high-quality use and development of electrical design tools with the engineering tools team.
- Coordinate with other R&D locations, operations, and stakeholders on design and process strategies.
- Analyze market information and process data to guide improvements.
- Maintain technical documentation and ensure standards and safety-regulation compliance.
Qualifications
- B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 7+ years of experience.
- Several years of electrical or mechanical design and process-development experience.
- Proactive, systematic, collaborative approach, with proven leadership and coaching skills.
- Continuous-improvement mindset and Lean and Agile ways of working.
- Fluent in English; other languages are appreciated.
Additional experience and tools
- Experience with insulation systems, magnetic materials, and motor technologies is a plus.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, SAP, CAD, and motor design platforms is requested.
