About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Tax & Capital Gains Valuation Expert to support complex tax, valuation, and assessment matters within a government tax administration environment in Qatar.
The role will focus on valuation matters connected to capital gains, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, asset transfers, business disposals, and related-party arrangements.
The successful candidate will support technical tax reviews, audit assessments, valuation analysis, and dispute-related matters involving complex corporate transactions.
This opportunity is well suited for a senior professional with strong experience in tax audit, valuation, transaction advisory, financial reporting, or regulatory review.
Experience with tax authorities, public-sector tax administration, regulatory bodies, Big Four firms, or specialist valuation advisory practices will be highly relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and review valuations of businesses, shares, equity interests, assets, liabilities, and transaction-related items for tax assessment and capital gains purposes.
- Assess gains and losses arising from asset disposals, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, business transfers, and related-party transactions.
- Apply recognized valuation methodologies, including market approach, income approach, cost approach, discounted cash flow analysis, and comparable transaction analysis.
- Review financial statements, transaction documents, valuation models, assumptions, ownership structures, legal agreements, and supporting evidence.
- Support tax audits, assessments, technical reviews, and dispute resolution matters involving valuation issues.
- Provide technical input on complex restructuring, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing-related matters, and corporate transaction scenarios.
- Work with tax, finance, audit, legal, accounting, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Prepare clear technical reports, working papers, valuation review notes, and assessment documentation.
- Ensure valuation work is aligned with applicable tax laws, accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and international best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Business, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and valuation principles.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Tax audit
- Tax advisory
- Valuation
- Transaction advisory
- Financial due diligence
- Transfer pricing
- Corporate restructuring
- M&A tax
- Regulatory or government tax review
- Proven experience in preparing or reviewing valuations for tax, audit, transaction, restructuring, or financial reporting purposes.
- Experience with corporate transactions, asset transfers, business combinations, restructurings, and related-party arrangements.
- Experience in a tax authority, regulatory body, Big Four firm, valuation advisory firm, financial institution, or large corporate tax function is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, including market approach, income approach, cost approach, DCF, comparable companies, and comparable transactions.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and International Accounting Standards, particularly:
- IFRS 13 — Fair Value Measurement
- IFRS 3 — Business Combinations
- IAS 36 — Impairment of Assets
- Understanding of the tax treatment of capital gains, asset disposals, business transfers, restructurings, and related-party transactions.
- Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines is preferred.
- Knowledge of Qatari Income Tax Law and Executive Regulations is highly preferred.
- GCC tax experience is an advantage.
Skills And Competencies
- Strong analytical, technical, and valuation review skills.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data, transaction structures, ownership arrangements, and legal documents.
- Strong understanding of the connection between tax, valuation, accounting standards, and financial reporting.
- Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to communicate technical matters clearly with tax, finance, audit, legal, and regulatory stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and ability to support technical positions with evidence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage.
