Systems Administrator LINUX

The Systems Administrator is responsible to assist in designing and implementing multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of these systems in alignment with the overall IT strategy.

Support in the design, configuration, deployment, and management of a centralized datacenter.

Assist in planning, designing, and maintaining the computing technology infrastructure including all server and storage environments.

Support in implementing, fine-tuning, and configuring high availability technologies on all applicable services and equipment ensuring their reliability.

Participate in testing failover and redundancy on regular basis.

Support all aspects of data center operational functions, including changes to the environment, urgent issues, escalations and new architectures.

Participate in operating systems installation with advanced configurations of storage, network, clustering and security considerations.

Support in performing advanced servers administration activities such as user management, disks, privileges and access.

Perform routine maintenance tasks on production servers and storage.

Administer and configure all aspects of the virtual environment.

Support in the implementation and integration of new technologies and solutions in the existing data center environment, and provide recommendations and guidance regarding overall system selection, design and performance.

Support the migration of existing technology systems to improved infrastructure for better capacity, reliability, availability and performance.

Assist in planning and performing infrastructure improvements, enhancements, upgrades and repairs.

Assist in conducting preventive maintenances, perform advanced systems health checks, and support auditing of systems and applications.

Analyze system logs and identifying potential issues with systems.

Support in monitoring network connectivity, servers operations, services, shared resources, log files, and file systems capacity, hardware performance and scalability.

Perform software and security updates and other system configuration tasks to ensure the health and availability of services.

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including user access and component configuration.

Perform routine scheduled backups and manage recovery procedures.

Actively follow and promote all policies and procedures.

Perform other tasks and duties that may be from time to time required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.

, EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or any other related field.

A certification in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution is a plus.

Normally three years of relevant work experience.

Excellent computer proficiency/skills.

Fluent in English; Arabic is preferred.
