System Security Engineer

Role overview

Experience and qualifications

• At least 5 years of IT support technical experience, including at least 3 years as a security system engineer.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or graduation from a technical school.
• Relevant certificate.
• In-depth knowledge of server operating systems and server hardware.
• Strong understanding of IP-based security platforms, network infrastructure, network concepts, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and network hardware, software, and processes.

Security system experience

• Experience deploying, installing, and maintaining enterprise video surveillance systems, such as Milestone, Genetec, Axxonsoft, or Axis.
• Experience deploying, installing, and maintaining enterprise access control systems, such as Dormakaba, Salto, Lenel, Idemia/Morpho, Suprema, or HID.
• Experience deploying, installing, and maintaining public address and intercom systems, such as Bosch, Commend, Zenitel, or Aiphone.

System engineering and support

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain security systems to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
• Administer, maintain, and support installation of video surveillance, access control, public address, and intercom systems in Windows and Linux environments.
• Monitor system performance and proactively address issues to maintain optimal operation.
• Create technical documentation, including processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and training modules.

Security coordination and lifecycle

• Coordinate with IT Security and Networking teams to protect data and keep security systems updated; ensure security, cumulative, and firmware updates are installed as appropriate.
• Maintain an accurate system inventory including software and firmware versions, build numbers, and revision dates.
• Support Operations and Project teams with security-system planning and design for projects, upgrades, and migrations.
• Order required devices, software licenses, and installation prerequisite materials.
• Monitor annual maintenance contracts and track product lifecycle, end-of-life and end-of-support dates, software subscriptions, and support contracts.
