Role Description
The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and securing end-user devices with a primary focus on endpoint management, identity, and access controls.
This role supports both Microsoft-licensed users with assigned devices and frontline staff using shared Chromebooks.
Partnering closely with the CITO, the Systems Administrator establishes device and security standards, improves reliability, documents repeatable processes, and provides Tier 2/3 support beyond the Help Desk.
Systems & Endpoint Administration
- Administer and support endpoint management platforms including Microsoft lntune, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Autopilot for Windows devices.
- Oversee lifecycle management for endpoints, including provisioning, configuration, patching, and secure retirement of devices.
- Administer and secure shared-device environments (e.g., Chromebooks), ensuring role-appropriate access and least privilege principles.
- Maintain standards for device configurations across Windows, ChromeOS, and mobile platforms.
Identity & Access Administration
- Administer user identities, licenses, and access within Entra ID.
- Manage differentiated access models for licensed Microsoft users and shareddevice users.
- Implement and maintain role-based access controls and participate in regular access reviews.
- Define identity lifecycle policies and access standards for onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
Security Operations & Compliance
- Monitor security alerts and logs from endpoint protection, identity (Entra ID), and device management (lntune) platforms.
- Implement and maintain security controls such as MFA, Conditional Access, End point protection, and secure baseline configurations.
- All Other Duties as Assigned
Automation, Documentation and Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain scripts or automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Create and maintain system documentation, technical standards and operational playbooks.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex endpoint issues beyond the Help Desk scope.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors on technical projects and issue resolution
Physical Expectations
This position requires extended periods of sitting with some periods of walking and standing.
It may also require bending, kneeling, and/or stooping and climbing stairs.
An individual in this position may need to drive a vehicle to resources in the community.
There may be extended periods of using a computer.
Ability to lift to 45 lbs.
Working Conditions
This position operates in an office and home setting and may require travel between organizational sites.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a System Administrator or System Engineer.
- Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
- Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in systems or endpoint administration in a cloud-first or Saas-based environment.
- Working knowledge of identity and access management, endpoint security, device lifecycle management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Experience working in healthcare, human services, or other highly regulated environments.
- Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell).
- Familiarity with Chrome OS administration and Google Admin Console.
- Must demonstrate safe practices in all areas and exemplify positive professional standards.
Additional Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Class E driver’s license during new hire orientation– must carry minimum coverage applicable by law for auto insurance.
- Must comply with organization health and safety requirements, including required vaccinations.
