Overview
Supply Chain and Logistics Coordinator — Kolkata
📍 Location:
Kolkata, West Bengal
🏢 Company:
Knowell International Private Limited
📅 Employment Type:
About the Role
Knowell International is looking for a Logistics & Inventory Operations Coordinator to own end-to-end coordination across our warehouse network and logistics partners.
This person will be the single point of accountability for accurate, timely inventory data across all locations, for cost-optimized domestic and international freight movement, and for catching delivery delays before customers do.
The role is built for someone who takes initiative — beyond running day-to-day logistics, they are expected to design and implement simple, user-friendly systems, document them and find new ways to make processes more efficient and effective.
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, inter-godown transfers, and shipping
- Act as the central point of contact across all warehouse locations, ensuring the Warehouse Management System and our homebuilt location/inventory app are updated accurately and on time.
- Ensure accurate inventory levels through regular physical and book stock checks, audits, and reconciliations (monthly and as needed)
- Train and support warehouse staff on correct, consistent use of the WMS and the app. Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Support demand planning by monitoring stock movement and flagging reorder and safety-stock requirements
Import & Sales Logistics
- Manage the end-to-end import process — liaising with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transport partners, and following up to ensure timely clearance and delivery
- Track each shipment from booking through customs clearance to final delivery.
- Proactively monitor domestic in-transit shipments, flag likely delays before the customer reports them, and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain import and logistics documentation in line with applicable compliance requirements (e.g., shipping and customs paperwork, e-way bills, GST)
Cost Control & Process Improvement
- Monitor and control transportation and logistics expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving projects to reduce spend and optimize the use of resources
- Negotiate freight rates and maintain a panel of reliable, cost-effective transport vendors.
- Drive excellence in logistics delivery to minimize customer complaints and elevate the overall customer experience
Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare and maintain MIS reports, stock summaries, and logistics updates for management
- Design and implement simple, user-friendly trackers or dashboards (Excel/Sheets or within the homebuilt app) to replace manual or inconsistent processes.
- Coordinate closely with the sales team on stock availability, dispatch priorities, and order fulfilment
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to keep operations aligned and responsive
Must-Have Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in logistics, inventory, supply chain, or operations
- Strong working knowledge of inventory management principles and warehouse processes
- Hands-on experience with inventory or ERP software (e.g., Tally, SAP, or similar)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite, with strong Excel skills for reporting and analysis (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to provide tailored, practical solutions for operational challenges
- Comfort working with technology, and an interest in using AI tools to make processes more efficient
- Fluency in English, Hindi, and Bengali (Fluency in Gujarati a bonus)
- Willingness to work full-time from the office in Kolkata, with occasional visits to warehouse locations.
What Will Set You Apart
- Diploma or certification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Export-Import Management.
- Hands-on exposure to coordinating import shipments with freight forwarders / customs house agents (CHAs)
- Prior experience in a B2B distribution, trading, or industrial manufacturing company — background in engineering components or bearings is a strong plus.
- A track record of building or improving SOPs, or driving measurable cost and efficiency gains
- Experience using automation or AI tools to streamline logistics or inventory operations
- A proactive, high-ownership mindset — able to anticipate and flag issues before being asked to.
- Comfort with spreadsheet automation (formulas, pivot tables, Google Apps Script, etc.) to reduce manual tracking effort.
