The Role

Plan how many products to manufacture, when to place purchase orders, and where products should be delivered.

Manage launch forecasts and schedules across many SKUs, sales channels, and partner calendars.

Reassess plans when product dates, lead times, samples, shipments, or retail orders change.

The Supply Chain Environment

Products are purchased months before sale, and retail availability on hardware launch day is important to capturing sales.

The role owns launch workback schedules, including ideal and latest purchase-order dates and recovery actions when timing windows close.

Schedules are maintained in spreadsheets and should show the impact of date changes on other launch data points.

The analyst works across Marketing, Industrial Design, Creative, Finance, Production, Retail, and Order Experience.

Most work is communicated in writing through email or Slack; timely, clear updates and plans are important.

Characteristics

  • Adapt schedules quickly when dates, factory lead times, or retail orders change, and communicate the impacts to teams.
  • Use landed costs, order quantities, and a supporting model to make and explain planning decisions.
  • Coordinate information from teams and factories into a shared schedule and resolve conflicting dates.
  • Investigate lead times, shipment delays, packaging constraints, and the effects of order timing.
  • Address supplier misses promptly and communicate the date now required.
  • Improve recurring bottlenecks by changing order, sequence, or timing.

Responsibilities

  • Determine manufacturing quantities, purchase-order timing, and delivery destinations for product launches.
  • Maintain forecasts and schedules for many SKUs across the company site, retail shelves, and partner channels.
  • Track dependencies among products that share moulds or packaging and account for production constraints.
  • Assess the impact of date, sample approval, shipment, and retail-order changes across related launch plans.
  • Own launch workback schedules, including ideal and latest purchase-order dates and recovery actions when timing windows close.
  • Maintain spreadsheet models that update downstream dates and data points when plans change.
  • Coordinate launch dates and plans with Marketing, Industrial Design, Creative, Finance, Production, Retail, and Order Experience.
  • Communicate purchase orders, factory updates, date changes, problems, reasons, and next steps clearly to relevant parties.
  • Investigate supplier lead times, shipment delays, packaging bottlenecks, and whether earlier ordering improves outcomes.
  • Escalate supplier misses promptly and specify the revised date required.
  • Rework schedules when demand or supply conditions change and notify affected teams.
  • Improve ordering, sequencing, or timing to remove recurring launch bottlenecks.
