Supervisor Phlebotomy

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborates with the Manager to develop plans for capital and expense budget.
• �
• Seeks cost containment opportunities, works with purchasing for inventory control and selection, and evaluates new products.
• Collaborates with the Manager to conceive, implement and analyze QA program for team, and develops, maintains and communicates departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains documentation for regulatory agencies.
• Monitors technical quality and accuracy of specimen collection.
• Demonstrates outstanding phlebotomy skills, knowledge of laboratory tests, nursing home program protocol, call center operations and knowledge of laboratory computer system.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Credential: DRIVERSLIC: Drivers License Equivalent Experience: If driving company vehicle, must be eligible under the medical center�s insurance guidelines.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS

• Three (3) to five (5) years� experience working as a phlebotomist in a Medical Center or similar setting required.
• Phlebotomy Certification (PBT) through the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) preferred.�

• Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a diverse team including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary skills.
• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
• Customer service oriented.
• This position must show knowledge, ability, and competence in treating patients who range in age from birth to 100+ years.

• Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
• Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
• Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.� Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
• Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.� May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
• Physical Demand Level: Light. � Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
