Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of cooks and the kitchen brigade.
  • Determine plate presentation and create food decorations.
  • Ensure proper portions, plating, and garnish for service.
  • Monitor quantity of food being prepared.
  • Inform service team of menu changes and specials.
  • Prepare special dishes or substitute ingredients.
  • Assist cooks and brigade with various tasks.
  • Provide items needed by cooks.
  • Monitor kitchen supplies and food inventory.
  • Maintain kitchen logs for safety and food programs.
  • Ensure food quality and report issues.
  • Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma from a technical, trade, or vocational school.
  • Related work experience: 4 to 6 years.
  • Supervisory experience: At least 2 years.
  • License or certification: None.
