Role Purpose

Lead and supervise the Auxiliary Seal System Order Engineering team responsible for technical execution of engineered seal support system orders.

Translate customer and business-unit requirements into accurate, compliant, manufacturable and cost-effective engineering deliverables.

Provide technical and people leadership across design, documentation, manufacturing support, global coordination and order closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end engineering execution from technical handover and requirements review through design release, manufacturing support, documentation and closeout.
  • Plan, assign, prioritize and monitor engineering work based on order complexity, schedule, capability and capacity.
  • Ensure systems, piping, instrumentation, components and documentation meet contractual, technical, safety, quality and manufacturability requirements.
  • Coordinate with global functions, business units, suppliers and customers to resolve technical and schedule issues.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, implement recovery actions and communicate status and escalations.
  • Control revisions, customer comments, technical deviations, approvals and engineering records.
  • Promote customer-focused execution and required quality and delivery performance.

Technical and Functional Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of engineered auxiliary seal support systems, piping plans, reservoirs, coolers, filters, accumulators, instrumentation, valves, tubing and mechanical components.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, equipment data sheets, material requirements and industry standards.
  • Capability in order engineering, system configuration, component selection, design review, detailing, bill-of-material preparation and change control.
  • Understanding of mechanical design, materials, fabrication, welding, pressure equipment, tolerances, GD&T, inspection, testing and design for manufacturability.
  • Proficiency with engineering drawings and models and with CPQ, PLM and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, presentations and business tools for planning, analysis, reporting and communication.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Typically 10 or more years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Experience with auxiliary seal systems, mechanical seals, pumps, valves, pressure systems, packaged equipment or related engineered products.
  • Substantial experience in order, product, original-equipment, applications or project-based engineering.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or technically coordinating an engineering team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across cultures, functions and time zones.

Leadership and People Management

  • Provide direction, daily supervision, technical guidance, motivation and coaching to order-engineering team members.
  • Allocate work based on competency, workload, priority and development needs.
  • Set performance expectations and review delivery, quality, productivity, utilization and behavioral objectives.
  • Build capability through mentoring, technical reviews, knowledge sharing, cross-training and individual development plans.
  • Support onboarding and ensure employees have required tools, systems, processes, standards and technical resources.
  • Conduct one-to-one discussions, provide feedback and address performance or conduct concerns.
  • Support performance and pay-review processes with the Engineering Manager or GTEC Leader.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, accountable and continuous-improvement culture.

Competencies

  • Technical leadership, engineering judgment, planning, prioritization and resource management.
  • Customer focus, ownership of commitments, fact-based decision-making and risk awareness.
  • Problem solving, root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement orientation.
  • Coaching, mentoring, performance management and talent development.
  • Clear communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, adaptability and accountability.

Working Relationships

Internal relationships include engineering, business-unit engineering, applications, project management, sales, operations, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, document control, service, finance and human resources.

External relationships include customers, suppliers, subcontractors, inspection agencies and technical partners.

The role operates in a global matrix environment with coordination across functions, business units and time zones.
